Meet the Muse: Paloma

Paloma Davis is a Service Designer based in Wellington, loved by those around her for her warmth, intelligence and easygoing nature. A woman of impeccable taste, Paloma connected with our Creative Director, Adrian, to design her bespoke wedding creation – an ivory twill silk gown cut on the bias with diagonal hand pleating through the bodice. Like Paloma, her dress was understated and effortlessly chic.
Our Paloma Top takes cues from the softly sculptural bodice, for a piece that’s wearable day to night. Read on to meet the muse, Paloma.

Can you tell us about how you came to work with Adrian on your bespoke wedding look? What was the process like?
PD: I met Adrian many years ago through a dear mutual friend of ours. I actually interviewed him for a university project when I was in undergrad and learnt of his background in bridal wear back in South Africa. When it came time to start thinking about finding something to wear for my wedding, I couldn’t initially find anything that felt like me. It was our mutual friend who recommended reaching out to Adrian to create something together. The process was so easy. I think I shared a few images of styles I liked with Adrian over a coffee, and he went away and sketched up my dream dress. I would go over to Adrian's house for fittings and he would discuss the process with me and his suggested next steps. He really took me on the journey of his craft with me.
How would you describe your bridal look?
PD: I would describe my bridal look as timeless and relaxed and maybe kind of elegant
What inspired you – tell us about the vision for your look?
PD: I knew I wanted something quite timeless for my wedding but with a bit of a twist. I’m a big fan of 90s silhouettes and always gravitate to a high, square neckline, so it was only natural the dress took on the form it did. Adrian suggested adding some texture through draping inspired by Grecian statues of women and the robes that often adorn them. I absolutely love how he was able to capture so much movement in the dress in such an understated and intelligent way.

How did you feel wearing a custom Adrion Atelier on your special day?
PD: It felt so so special wearing Adrion Atelier on such a magical day for me and my husband. I have never put something on my body that fit me so incredibly and felt so much like me.

The Paloma Top was inspired by the design for your wedding dress. What do you love most about the Paloma Top?
PD: I’m so excited about this piece and everything that Adrion Atelier is about. I think the Paloma top is everything that I want in an item of clothing; it feels special and unique but is also an everyday piece which is exactly how I want to be dressing.
